These lessons are based on the student’s tastes, through listening to works in class.
It is important to arouse an interest in jazz as a whole, so that the student can then choose for himself the pieces he wishes to study.
Choral singing is a unique form of music-making that offers numerous benefits beyond just producing a harmonious sound. Here are some of the advantages of singing in a group:
Social Benefits: Singing in a chorus fosters a sense of community and social well-being. Participants report higher rates of social well-being compared to solo singers.
Mental Health: Choral singing has been shown to alleviate symptoms of depression, stress, and anxiety. It can even help individuals no longer meet the diagnosis of depression after participating in a choir.
Physical Health: Singing in a group has been linked to improved lung function, increased pain thresholds, and reduced need for pain medication. It can also calm the heart and boost endorphin levels.
Joy and Thrill: Perhaps most importantly, choral singing allows individuals to create an uplifting and powerful sound, bringing joy and thrill to both participants and listeners.
ENSEMBLE/CHAMBER MUSIC
Performing with a new group of musicians is rewarding. To work with musicians who approach music in a different way or with a different view brings new ideas, broadens ones understanding, and brings new inspiration.
Listening is one of the most important skills that we develop as musicians, and playing chamber music requires each musician to listen expansively—to hear the totality beyond the musician’s own part. Chamber music also enhances social skills of musicians. To have confidence in one’s own beliefs and yet remain responsive to other ideas and open to criticism.
